On the Integrity of Images and Figures
It is not acceptable to enhance, obscure, move, remove, or introduce a specific feature in an image. Adjustments to brightness, contrast, or color balance are acceptable only if they do not obscure or eliminate any information present in the original.
Image manipulation to improve clarity is accepted, but manipulation for other purposes may be considered scientific ethical misconduct and will be addressed accordingly.
Authors must comply with any specific policy for graphic images applied by the relevant journal, such as providing original images as supplementary material to the article or depositing them in an appropriate repository.
