Resumen

This research analyzed the structure of water quality in the Water Resources Management Units of the Aguapeí and Peixe rivers, UGRHIs 20 and 21, located in western São Paulo State, Brazil. The study used data from physicochemical water parameters and applied non-parametric and multivariate statistical methods, including Spearman correlation, seasonal boxplots, and principal component analysis. The results indicated that, although the two units are located within the same regional context, they present distinct responses. In UGRHI 20, a greater separation was observed between parameters associated with material transport, such as turbidity, total dissolved solids, and total phosphorus, and those related to nitrogen-related dissolved load. In UGRHI 21, a more integrated structure was identified, marked by the association between electrical conductivity and total alkalinity, as well as positive correlations among total phosphorus, total nitrogen, turbidity, and total dissolved solids. The seasonal distribution reinforced the greater variability of UGRHI 21 during the rainy season, especially for turbidity, phosphorus, and dissolved solids. The PCA showed partial differentiation between the units, indicating greater dispersion in UGRHI 21. It is concluded that water quality in these basins is conditioned by the interaction among hydrological and hydrochemical processes, seasonality, land use, and landscape connectivity.
